Olympiacos Soccer School Chicago is proud to announce the formation of its first ever youth academy teams in the United States. The teams are comprised of young players whose parents are from various ethnic backgrounds – countries such as Bosnia, Croatia, Greece, Serbia, Mexico, Vietnam, Cuba and the United States.
Player development is a very important ingredient still missing from local youth soccer clubs – a void that Olympiacos Soccer School Chicago has set its founding base on and is ready to fill.
Director of Coaching Nikos Mirtsekis, a 15-year veteran of the Greek Super League playing for clubs such as Panionios, AEK, Iraklis and Aris (with Champions League and Greece National team appearances as well) has set a new training standard in the Chicagoland area.
Olympiacos Chicago training has received overwhelming positive response by both parents and players. The kids proudly wear their jerseys and training gear and are excited to be part of such a historic club.
Both teams currently train and compete at “The Odeum” in Villa Park, Illinois for the indoor season.
Teamwork and a sense of community are also evident amongst the parents and children outside of the training grounds. The teams came together to celebrate and socialize outside of the field during the first Olympiacos Soccer School Chicago Bowling Social activity on Sunday, January 29, 2012. The evening was filled with excitement and lots of fun activity for all.
